When a 15 mm Gruper mat is the right call
This is our softest mat: nitrile foam, ribbed on top, in 10 mm at 72 by 24 inches or 15 mm at 72 by 32 inches. On a tile or concrete floor that is a real layer under your knees and hips in Pilates, core work and stretching, and the wider 15 mm size leaves room to roll from side to side.
Soft foam has a trade-off. In a balance pose your foot sinks a little, so standing flows feel steadier on our 6 or 8 mm TPE mats. The mat smells new out of the bag: unroll it and let it air out for 2 to 3 days before the first session, and hand wash it when it needs cleaning.
